I have been investigating the use of wierd and wonderful rhythms for many years. This project with percussionist Ulrik Ibsen Thorsrud is a mixture of some heady ingredients: time signatures from hell, polyrhythms, free improvisation, techniques from both modern classical music and jazz, and strange and various sounds, thanks to Ulrik's arsenal of percussion curiosities from all over the world.

The following pieces were recorded at a concert at Bergen Library for the contemporary music organisation Avgarde.
Drummer/percussionist with Bachelor and Master degrees from Leeds College of Music in England. He lives in Oslo where he works as a freelance musician. Thorsrud works mainly with improvisation-related music from solo to bigband. He is interested in cross-genre collaborations such as dance, film and theatre. He has toured clubs and festivals in Norway, Europe, Japan, China and USA with various bands, and has featured on many CDs.
